Interview by Minmin Xia

Ruijing Ge (China),
Artist focused on embodied experience

Ruijing Ge's research focuses on the contradiction between subjectivity and the objectification of body in the context of disease, as well as the limitations of instrumentalization of the body in treatment. Ruijing tries to 'dissect' herself by breaking through the boundaries of the body, work and audiences, as well as those of the individual and work through extremely personal stories.

In this dialogue, Ruijing shares her personal feelings during the epidemic, especially when living in a confined space, her personal cognitive bias of surroundings is as if she is floating. Ruijing also discusses how individuals return to instinctive physical responses, cultural belonging, and identity recognition in an undifferentiated and weakly selective state of social life.
